SUSAN STORY, president and chief executive officer of American Water, has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the Alliance to Save Energy, a nonprofit that promotes energy efficiency to achieve a healthier economy, a cleaner environment and greater energy security. Story previously served on the Alliance Board while president of Southern Company Services, a subsidiary of Southern Company.
American Water is also a new Alliance Associate, which represents nearly 140 companies and organizations committed to advancing energy efficiency.
Story joined American Water in 2013 as chief financial officer before being named to her current role on May 9, 2014. Before joining American Water, Story spent 31 years in the electric and energy utility industry, serving as executive vice president of Southern Company. She also is a former president and CEO of Gulf Power Co., a Southern operating subsidiary in Florida.
American Water, the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, is the parent company of Missouri American, which serves Joplin and other communities in the state.
HAL VAN DAGRIFF and RICHARD ACHEY are both retiring from The Empire District Electric Co.
VanDaGriff joined the company on April 14, 1980, and held a number of positions over the years. In August 2013, he was promoted to plant manager at Ozark Beach, the position he holds at retirement.
Achey joined the company on March 26, 2001, and also held a number of positions. In February 2006, he was promoted to clerk-storekeeper 1st class, the position he holds at retirement.
